SAMMAMISH, Nov 11, 2016: A group calling itself Plateaupians for Peace gathered on the Sammamish Commons Plaza on Wednesday calling for unity and holding signs saying “hugs not hate” and “we are stronger together.”
After the election, Sarah Kimsey said she wanted to do something positive and decided to focus on making sure marginalized communities know they have allies. She organized the gathering and spread the word through Facebook.
About 40 people attended what was an, at times, emotional event at the Sammamish Commons Plaza on Wednesday night, Kimsey said. They’ll meet again at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
